10.Christmas Clown

Hello there Christmas eve, the stains set on my feet
curled up in my wounds, the snow comes down in flumes
Surely you would know, a light under the snow
a handles frozen fate, a lovers lonely sleigh

And you could see me walking, and I'll never turn around
they said I'm a clown, a Christmas clown

Bags over my shoes, my scarf's in tattered twos
the hum beneath the lights, where I held you Christmas night
A family seated there, I won't what I always fear
my grandma used to say, it's good on Christmas eve

But surprise I'm always talking talking and never listening
you think I'm a flea, a Christmas flea

I could smell the snow, under the slope of my red nose
these new clothes made me a man, but the time carved up my hands
So I strive off in the night, another Christmas won't be right
and when we meet under the lights, just promise to drive on by

Cause I was only stopping by for a little while in your life
oh Christmas tonight, Christmas tonight

So we turned upside down, in the lifeboat we have found
And you tucked away the sails, and I feel back down the stairs

But that was my last Christmas and I'll lay right here on the
ground
oh you think I'm a clown, the Christmas clown
